Deer Park Extended Program

Our Staff

The staff at DPEP are exceptional and are the primary asset of the centre. All the teachers are highly qualified professional individuals who work together to make a dynamic team.

They each have a strong commitment to the healthy development of the children and to maintaining open communication with the parents. Most importantly, they all love being with children!

All full-time staff have qualifications recognized by the Ministry of Education. The staff have yearly training in CPR and First Aid, and likewise attend professional development courses in areas such as early learning framework, behaviour guidance and curriculum planning. The teacher to child ratio is 1 to 8.

Our Director holds an N.N.E.B.(National Nursery Examination Board) Certificate from England, and the Day Care Management Certificate from George Brown College in Toronto. She has been working in DPEP since 1987. She was employed as the Lead Teacher from 1987 to 1993, when she was promoted to the position of Director.

This teacher received her RECE from George Brown College (with Honours). Joining the staff in February 2014, she is responsible for Art, Drama and Cognitive enrichment classes. The teacher also incorporates yoga into her circle time!

Receiving her diploma from George Brown College in 2015, this Teacher started her career at DPEP in September 2015. She is responsible for the cooking and music classes (and includes her ability to play the flute and piano).

Our assistant joined the staff in 2006. As a volunteer duty parent while her child was enrolled in DPEP, she demonstrated a calm and kind disposition, a good sense of humour and it was obvious she enjoyed helping the children and teachers.
